The ILO’s Inter-American Centre for Knowledge Development in Vocational Training (CINTERFOR) has launched its first virtual study visit, with the support of the Partnerships and Field Support Department (ILO/PARDEV) under the framework of South-South and Triangular Cooperation. CINTERFOR has facilitated in previous years many study visits in different areas, covering a wide range of institutions, providing participants from countries in Latin America and the Caribbean with valuable opportunities for exchange and peer-learning on skills development. In 2020, the restrictions imposed by the pandemic encouraged the creation of a program of virtual visits, which will in turn allow the activity to reach a wider range of beneficiaries. This initiative aims to promote knowledge exchange among vocational training institutes, particularly on their experiences with innovation, including topics such as industry 4.0, digitalization of vocational training, development of innovation centres, new teaching methodologies and technologies.
The first virtual visit to be launched is SENAC 360, a visit to the SENAC, a Brazilian institution for vocational education and training on commerce, services and tourism. The virtual visit provides:
- An overview of SENAC’s history, mission, objectives and achievements
- A visit to SENAC today, main lines of work, pedagogical model and operational action
- Virtual tour at a SENAC Center: activities, actions and forecast of the future of vocational training. Overview of operations and innovative aspects.
The next virtual visits to be launched will be to SENAR and SENAI, both vocational education and training institutions in Brazil, respectively for rural and industrial skills development.
