China expands its support to South-South Triangular Cooperation in ASEAN countries

Beijing (ILO News) – On 21 November, the ILO Director General Guy Ryder and the Chinese Vice-Minister of Human Resources and Social Security You Jun, signed an amendment to the ILO-MOHRSS “Partnership Agreement for Promoting Development Cooperation with a Focus on South-South Initiatives”.

They thereby agreed to enlarge the scope of their south-south cooperation to include social security, labour relations and new forms of employment. With an additional funding of 1 million US dollars, more ASEAN countries will be invited to join the initiative, which currently involves Lao PDR, Cambodia and Myanmar. This enhanced cooperation will contribute to the implementation of the Tripartite Centenary Declaration on the Future of Work over the period 2019-2022.
