The Regional Initiative Latin America and the Caribbean Free of Child Labour (Technical Secretariat: ILO) and ILO/CINTERFOR jointly advanced South-South and triangular cooperation in the region by completing two large-scale efforts that strengthened institutions, deepened peer learning, and promoted more inclusive labour systems. Through the Regional Initiative, 31 countries collaborated to improve their ability to prevent and eliminate child labour in supply chains, using a shared learning methodology, new regional monitoring tools, and coordinated action plans that reinforced tripartite governance, due-diligence practices, and gender-responsive strategies. In parallel, ILO/CINTERFOR brought together vocational training institutions from 13 countries to enhance skills development in the care economy, establishing a permanent cooperation network, co-creating methodologies for training and certification aligned with national care policies, and promoting social dialogue and partnerships to elevate the recognition and professionalization of care work. Together, these initiatives demonstrated the power of regional solidarity, institutional ownership, and knowledge exchange to produce sustainable results that strengthened decent work, expanded gender equity, and improved labour conditions across Latin America and the Caribbean.
