Global Solidarity Through South-South Partnerships

This factsheet highlights the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) role in advancing South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC)—a solidarity-driven, non-conditional model of development led by the Global South and supported by Northern partners. It outlines why SSTC matters: enabling inclusive, nationally owned solutions; amplifying Southern leadership; and fostering resilience through peer-to-peer knowledge exchange.

Key priority pathways for 2024/25 include just transitions to green and digital economies, strengthening collective resilience, promoting gender equality, and improving conditions in global supply chains. The document also showcases successful solidarity partnerships—from Brazil reducing child labour abroad, to China advancing skills in ASEAN, and BRICS investing over $75 million in decent work initiatives.

By pooling resources, sharing innovations, and co-creating solutions, SSTC partnerships are accelerating SDG progress, amplifying Southern voices, and building resilient communities worldwide.
