Philippines and ILO Strengthen Cooperation under the Global Coalition for Social Justice

On 22 December 2025, the Government of the Philippines and the International Labour Organization (ILO) signed a new agreement to support the rollout of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, reinforcing the country’s leadership in advancing social justice, decent work, and inclusive development, notably through South–South cooperation.

Under the agreement, the Philippines will help operationalize key Coalition priorities—including living wages, just transition, and the transition to formality—by supporting targeted knowledge exchange, peer learning, and advocacy activities. A particular focus will be placed on sharing practical experiences across Asia, Africa, and potentially Latin America, including pathways to formalization and productivity improvements in sectors such as manufacturing and fisheries.

Building on the Philippines’ active role as a member of the Coalition’s Coordinating Group, the initiative will generate knowledge products, convene technical exchanges, and amplify visibility of country-led solutions that contribute to the 2030 Agenda and the social dimension of sustainable development.

This partnership underscores the growing role of South–South collaboration in translating global commitments on social justice into concrete, country-driven action.
