PARTNERSHIPS Strengthens South-South Collaboration for Just Transition in Climate Policy Development

The International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Emerging and Special Partnerships Unit (ESPU) actively participated in the “Just Transition and Climate Policy Development through the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs): A South-South Learning Approach” masterclass, held in Doha, Qatar, from 18 to 20 February 2025. This in-person workshop, organized in collaboration with the ILO International Training Centre, convened representatives from 11 Arab States, including Ministries of Labour, environmental focal points, and social partners, to explore how climate policies can integrate social dialogue and just transition principles.

Representing the ILO’s PARTNERSHIPS team, Amera Al-Adba contributed to the opening session, setting the stage for the workshop by presenting its objectives and agenda. On the second day, she delivered a presentation highlighting how SSTC facilitates peer-to-peer learning, enabling countries in the Global South to share best practices, co-create solutions, and build collaborative frameworks for NDC development. The workshop underscored the crucial role of multi-stakeholder partnerships in ensuring climate action is inclusive, equitable, and aligned with sustainable development goals.
