The ILO and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU) signed a cooperation agreement to assist trade union development in the Asia and the Pacific region. By embracing the South-South Cooperation (SSC) principles, the project, which will run from 2019 to 2021, aims to enhance the core capacities of trade unions and workers organizations through sharing knowledge, experiences, training and technology transfer.
The signature of this agreement creates a significant pathway to reinforce solidarity between the ACFTU and Workers Organizations to promote the Decent Work Agenda through SSC. In addition, it builds on the previous agreement implemented between the ILO and ACFTU (2013-2018) which achieved positive outcomes by strengthening unions in the region in specific areas such as occupational safety and health (OHS), international labour standards (ILS), fundamental principles and rights at work, among others.
