As a prelude to the 4th World Forum of Local Economic Development (which will be held in Praia, Cape Verde, in October 2017), the ILO co-organized the international seminar on South-South Cooperation, Social Economy and SDGs Implementation.
The participants appreciated the real involvement of all stakeholders, in particular organizations of the Social and Solidarity Economy, local leaders, government representatives, social partners and representatives of universities. They remarked that despite the economic growth taking place in some African countries, poverty, unemployment and social exclusion remain worrying problems that deserve urgent consideration and South-South and triangular cooperation is an appropriate framework to tackle these issues and thus must be present in programmes and strategies of regional and sub-regional development.
The seminar was attended by authorities and representatives from a range of countries and international organizations, including Cape Verde Prime Minister Mr. Ulisses Correia e Silva.
